Swing of Things

Being mid-semester really takes it outta ya. I've got hardcore senioritis as well as I'm-sick-of-all-my-classes-this-semester-itis. Being in the swing of things makes you realize where your priorities are in your daily life. I know I need to enjoy this final semester of undergrad skewl, but it's difficult when you're involved in a group project on Harriet Tubman (are we in 5th grade again?), some professors don't even show up to class because the students are teaching the class (by assignment), and your legs don't bend that way like the tall girl in pointe shoes who even looks beautiful when she picks her nose. And yes, I already know I will look back on my school years and wish I could go back. I'm trying to savor every non-capri-wearing moment of my university education while it's still here.

I'm still learning new things everyday:

:: Sometimes you just want to eat all your groceries all at once because you finally have food in your house after having only oatmeal and pickles for 2 weeks.

:: I enjoy shopping for teeny little baby clothes :) FOR A BABY SHOWER, PEOPLE. Not for me.

:: I absolutely am loving my volunteer work. The progress that is already showing in the amount of weight our team members have lost (and their attitudes and self-image as well!) is SO rewarding. They are all so strong and dedicated to this program and making improvements in their lives. And not only that, but we have such a great dynamic on our team and we all work to lift one another up and enjoy being in each other's company. I got an ab workout the other day just from laughing so hard! I have so much fun being around them. And they are an inspiration to me, that you can succeed in whatever you put your mind to.

:: I look forward to the day when I can have own home to decorate and paint and put nail holes wherever the heck I want. But for now, I'm finding that you always appreciate things more that you don't have. I am SO looking forward to when we move in April and will have our own washer + dryer, disposal, and pantry! Those little things matter so much when you don't have them.

:: I can't finish an entire can of soda. Ever.

:: I need to figure out how to do taxes. Barf.

:: Pink letters from grandmas are the best. Especially when they have birthday money in them :)

:: Jazzing up Top Ramen with green peppers and lime juice is not good.

:: Sometimes ice cream looks like a potato with whipped cream.

:: I miss Sophie
